چکیده
Induction vectors represent geomagnetic transfer functions used in magnetotellurics and related passive electromagnetic sounding methods geophysics. They are obtained from the measurements of variation carry information on distribution local regional electric resistivity subsurface, which can be interpreted terms geology tectonics. The underlying concept their interpretation works properly if so-called far-field condition is fulfilled, i.e., certain assumptions geometry utilized natural source fields met. magnetotelluric practitioner expects problems regions where variations originate to a high extent ionospheric currents as sources. Due polar (or auroral) electrojets, this skepticism towards clearly applies latitudes, regions, auroral zones. In present study, investigation focuses typical for electrojet sources occur data Argentine Islands INTERMAGNET observatory (AIA) located at Ukrainian Antarctic Akademik Vernadsky station. one month AIA measured normal framework analysed stability over both period time, time resolution day allows detection changes originating signals instead subsurface distribution. outcomes compared corresponding ones two northern hemisphere stations belong International Monitor Auroral Geomagnetic Effects (IMAGE) network, Finland Poland. Results show that induction do not exhibit expected latitudes; very similar comparable but opposite latitude 50 degrees, corresponds geographically mid-latitudes Europe. A further outcome study some slight, occasional attributed increased activity because they correlated planetary diurnal Ap index.

Present stability of the Larsen C ice shelf, Antarctic Peninsula
We modelled the flow of the Larsen C and northernmost Larsen D ice shelves, Antarctic Peninsula, using a model of continuum mechanics of ice flow, and applied a fracture criterion to the simulated velocities to investigate the ice shelf’s present-day stability. Constraints come from satellite data and geophysical measurements from the 2008/09 austral summer. Ice-shelf thickness was derived from...
متن کاملWestern Antarctic Peninsula physical oceanography and spatio–temporal variability
Peninsula (WAP). The dataset offers the most long-lived consistent CTD-gridded observations of Antarctic waters collected anywhere in the Southern Ocean. The physical characteristics, water column structure and spatio–temporal variability of the various properties are examined for physically consistent and ecologically important patterns and modes of variability. Unique findings of note include...
متن کاملLeg 178 Antarctic Peninsula
Leg 178 will drill eight sites off the Pacific margin of the Antarctic Peninsula to provide a highresolution record of Antarctic continental climate over the past 6-10 m.y. and a direct check on the presumed glacio-eustatic origin of global sea-level change over the same period. Moreover, it is an essential preliminary to the more difficult task of extracting the complete Cenozoic record of Ant...
متن کاملAn evaluation of sponge-associated amphipods from the Antarctic Peninsula
Nearshore marine benthic algal communities along the western Antarctic Peninsula harbour extremely high densities of amphipods that probably play important roles in nutrient and energy flow. This study extends our evaluation of the importance of amphipods in the nearshore Antarctic Peninsular benthic communities and focuses on sponge associations. We found a mean density of 542 amphipods per li...
متن کاملMarine pelagic ecosystems: the west Antarctic Peninsula.
The marine ecosystem of the West Antarctic Peninsula (WAP) extends from the Bellingshausen Sea to the northern tip of the peninsula and from the mostly glaciated coast across the continental shelf to the shelf break in the west. The glacially sculpted coastline along the peninsula is highly convoluted and characterized by deep embayments that are often interconnected by channels that facilitate...
